Food and Beverage Shift Leader working sociable hours typically between 9am and 6pm

The Role – Food and Beverage Shift Leader

Supporting our Management team working in The Oakfield, you’ll be responsible for the daily coordination of the Front of House team, whilst working closely with our Chef and Events teams. We’re proud to say that The Oakfield pub-restaurant (located in the heart of our zoo) won the Travellers’ Choice Award in 2020 ranking it in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide!

Duties include:

  • Supporting the day to day running of The Oakfield, including rotas, set up and close down, adhering to health and safety requirements, stock management and cash security, ensuring that appropriate action is taken to achieve targets and compliance
  • Training and motivating Floor and Bar Team Members to deliver an exceptional guest experience
  • Serving customers of The Oakfield bar, restaurant and events to the highest standards, including; taking orders, serving food and drinks at tables and processing payments
  • Working closely with Events and Chef teams to deliver outstanding world class events, including weddings and corporate hospitality
  • Deputising for the Food and Beverage Assistant Manager in their absence

The Package

You’ll be working sociable hours, typically during zoo opening hours, between 9am and 6pm, although evening work will be required for events such as weddings, corporate functions, and the Lanterns. Contract hours are 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis including weekends and bank holidays.

Our Requirements – Food and Beverage Shift Leader

  • Experience of working in a busy gastro-pub restaurant
  • Experience of coordinating daily activities of other team members
  • Exceptional customer service skills within a guest focused environment
  • Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Cash handling experience including balancing of safe / float / tills
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures including risk assessments and food safety legislation

Desirable:

  • Experience of supporting with events such as weddings or corporate meetings / functions
